Lauren Dykstra: Mother, Wife, and Teacher
The Battle of the balance
"It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done."
- Vincent VanGogh

Meet
Getting to know the fulcrum....ME!!
In the world that I balance, my name is Lauren Dykstra. I am a second grade integrated co-teacher at a public school in Westchester County, NY. I live with my heroic and amazing husband, my young son Niklaus (the German pronunciation of Americanized: Nicholas,) and our two Beaglier dogs named Roggen and Bailey. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, a sister, a teacher, and now a writer. My primary reason for creating this blog was to have a personal outlet to share my thoughts, experiences, and the trials and tribulations of performing a balancing act with your daily routine. In this blog, you will find:
-
"Powerful Mothers" - interviews and biographies of working Moms who are performing the balancing act on a daily basis.
-
"Lauren's Journal" - my daily experiences being a teacher and a mother.
-
"Educational Tools and Resources" - a compilation of great tools, resources, websites, and activities for parents and teachers to use with their children or students.
Rationale: When I first had my son, I found that reading stories and experiences written by other Moms helped me to put motherhood into perspective and made me feel like I was not in my journey alone. You will also find I enjoy highlighting strong, goal-oriented women who radiate confidence. As an educator, I frequently devote my time and energy into my craft. It's nice to share the resources, I found to be most helpful!
